Pre-Launch Construção Sustentável

Construção Sustentável de Livia TironeWriting a book is no mean feat. In the first place is a mega amount of work and you just have to believe me on that. But it makes a big difference working with good people. I will tell this story another time.

My partner Livia Tirone has just finished the teaser (a pre-launch version) and all attention is now focused on the pre-launch sales campaign. Tomorrow (Thursday) (having just looked at the clock, I mean later today) I, together with with Francis Doody, who has his own Internet project JoomlaLisbon can start working on getting this teaser set up on various websites, so that the pre-sales process can really begin.

We are working with Sónia Pinto (who is the graphic designer of the book) and she has been a real find. Not often you get someone who is very talented and who works to a programme (at least not here in Portugal). Deadlines to her is all important and her work is really top quality.

As is the work of Fernando & Sergio Guerra on the photographs for the book. Fernando is the best in Portugal and he is a real pleasure to work with. The quality of their work is really exceptional. Take a look at their site.

It’s now all down to making sure we get sales right. You will be able to buy pre-launched copies of the book soon. I will post the link as soon as it’s complete.

What’s The Difference Between a Website and a Blog

Blogs went ballistic some 5 years ago. Everyone started to talk about Weblogs and it’s now “the must have” for anyone who has something to say. Everyone has a blog…..even high ranking CEO of major companies now find it a good way of being able to think outside the box, to express their views on the strategy being developed for their company. And really, blogs can be used for keeping in touch with friends and family when there is a distance between, or just messing around and wanting to have some fun. There is no fixed recipe and no one really cares. It’s an individual expression. And certainly the freedom of expression that the Internet has given us.

I will be using my blog as a means of developing my thought on the ideas I  am working on…..probably more ideas I am working towards. My aim will be to get feedback and even interesting partners to develop the ideas with. To me, ideas need space. Two brain cells think better than one…..and 5 brain cells thinking better than 2. I really think some of the ideas have the potential to be something interesting. And I am very aware that I can’t achieve any of it on my own.

So, have a look and see if you are interested. You can always drop me a line.

Joomla! - Because Open Source Matters

I was introduced to Joomla! by Francis Doody (more about him later) in 2005. Joomla! is a Content Management System (CMS). It actually was a branch off from Mambo and over the last two years have developed to the most popular CMS on the planet. (more…)

Karlina Vitolina

I wanted to share with you the website I mentioned earlier of Karlina Vitolina.

The site is being developed by Joomla Lisbon (where Francis Doody is the hero) and will soon be online for all to see…. :)

Start Ups Portugal

So often you or you, together with one or two friends, think “wouldn’t it be great to have my own business…become my own boss…be responsible for the things I do in our lives…taking an idea to another level…” Chances are, you would have actually sat down and talked in detail and tried to find out exactly what is involved (the process and the costs) and before you start, you realize that the financial risk is too much and it would probably be best to not start…let’s fact it, the odds are stacked against you and the probability for failure is just too high. And you would have often wondered “what if…” (more…)
