What Is Ruby on Rails

Ruby on RailsMy good friend and future trend spotter José Luiz Moutinho, recently introduced me to Ruby On Rails (RoR) (I actually like to refer to this as simply Ruby (Probably because it was my mothers name)). It’s a software code which is supposed to be making the Internet a different place. There is certainly a lot of excitment surrounding Ruby. This is not to say that Ruby is a new technology. However, the last 5 years things have really heated up in the Ruby World.

I have a meeting booked with Pedro Sousa and Francisco Cabrita on the 17th September to discuss how this can be applied to some of the projects I am at present developing. I will tell you more about this as time goes by.

And through this I started to think about creating a Social Network site for Fashion Photographers around Europe. The project is developing as follows: (more…)

Can’t See The Woods For The Trees

I long, long time ago, while doing my A Levels working for the Coop (a supermarket chain in the UK) the manager of the store (Mr Harrington (who actually was encouraging me to become a future Coop manager…..) said to me “Ken, we are not going to put all those horrible poster in the front window. I want people to see from the outside in….or they won’t be able to see the woods for the Trees”. (more…)
