What Price Renewable Energy…

Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

It’s sad that we need to have a major environmental disaster to remind us of the good things we have in our lives. Would be nice to start to understand that the cost of these kinds of “externalities” (which CNN is reporting could cost BP $3Billion) are all part of the “costs” that we need to consider when comparing against the cost of very clean Renewable Energy.

It’s ANOTHER wake up call folks…

A Place in the Sun….

This is the work of a group of 4 students that I assisted in 2007…sorry I hadn’t posted this here before…nice work guys…

Ideas in Reuseability…

Listening to a presentation at the ICS workshop this week, one of the presenters (Rui Frazão of LNEG) said something to the effect that industry should look to provide services rather than products…which means that instead of selling a washing machine, you sell the wash…which means that people pay for each wash they make at home…the washing machine manufacturer then provides the most energy and water efficient machine, and even look to manufacture the machine so that parts are easily reusable at the end of the useful life of the machine. It’s something that we have been favouring for some time and its nice to hear a respected researcher like Rui Frazão also developing the theme. (more…)

Message from Greenpeace…

There are moments in my life that I feel we can do amazing things collectively….This is a message I received from Greenpeace which confirms this…its worth reading this and having a look at how you can get involved in the cause…

Message from Greenpeace…
Together, we went far in 2009.

Our voices and actions helped build the biggest movement civil society has ever seen around the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, convinced Apple, Clorox, and Philips to remove toxic chemicals from their products, and brought a successful conclusion to our eight year campaign to stop Kimberley-Clarke from pulping the most endangered North American rainforests. You also made us one of the biggest NGOs on Facebook and sent thousands of e-mails that gave our fragile Earth a voice.

We have come far - and accomplished so much. Now let’s go further.
